![]() Thanks for all the suggestions and if anyone else has similar problems, I'd be more than happy to try to help. ![]() piezo, ignition, there is no flint to replace. Either way, I won't get too upset, now this is just something to tinker with. However, I am VERY excited about getting the other one up and running. to produce an electric spark that will light the butane gas being evenly. If so, I'll probably fill it up with gas and let it sit for a few weeks and see how the glue holds up. After the glue dries I'm going to add a VERY little bit of butane and see if it lights. Then you'll show someone how you can smack two pieces of quartz together and make light (some native americans made these cool glowing maraca type things with quartz shards in them). I tried to fill it with superglue, but I'm not sure if the glue can withstand the pressure - and I'm not sure that thats a risk I want to take (read hand-grenade). Beware, you'll start talking about you much you love quartz, then everyone will instantly assume something else. The spark was good but I had bled it awhile back (for shipping) so I tried to refill and butane shot out the crack. ![]() I managed to put it all back together and it works like new, nice big spark and a gorgeous dual flame.Īs for the small cigarette lighter, once i took it apart I saw there was a crack in the plastic casing (where the butane goes) - not good. This property allows opportunities for implementing renewable and sustainable energy through power harvesting and self-sustained smart sensing in buildings. Piezoelectric materials are capable of transforming mechanical strain and vibration energy into electrical energy. I paid particular attention to the metal striker, because it was sooted over pretty bad and I think that and the flint were the problem. The piezoelectric effect is extensively encountered in nature and many synthetic materials. I also took out the flint and added a new one. The CEO version I was able to scrub everything with an old toothbrush and a but of vodka and then hit with compressed air. So I took a gamble and took apart both of them.
